Book Classixx
Classixx is a Los Angeles electronic production and DJ duo formed by childhood friends Michael David and Tyler Blake, who met in middle school and launched the project in 2005. Taking their name from their love of classic compilations, they emerged in their early twenties as part of a new wave of Los Angeles dance music, trading hard-edged electro for a silky mix of funk, disco, house, new wave and indie rock, drawing on influences as varied as Kraftwerk, Paul Simon and vintage R&B. Their remixes for Phoenix, Mayer Hawthorne, Holy Ghost, Ladyhawke, Groove Armada, Yacht and Major Lazer made them a fixture in DJ sets, and Pitchfork praised their pillowy synth-disco take on Phoenix's Lisztomania. Their debut single, I'll Get You (2009), featuring Jeppe of Junior Senior, came out on the Paris label Kitsune. They followed with the albums Hanging Gardens (2013) and Faraway Reach (2016). Classixx deliver sun-soaked, melodic dance sets that keep a room moving.
