Book Baio
Chris Baio is an American musician best known as the bassist of the New York indie rock band Vampire Weekend, and he also records and produces electronic music under the name Baio. At Columbia University he helped run the campus station WBAR and was recording Vampire Weekend's first album while still a student; the band's success led him to turn down a planned post teaching math through Teach for America. As a solo artist he made his debut with The Names (2015), released through Glassnote Records, and followed it with Man of the World (2017) and Dead Hand Control (2021), blending dance grooves, synth textures and thoughtful songwriting. In 2025 he launched a collaborative project, C.Y.M., with Michael Greene of Fort Romeau, and the duo released their self-titled debut album that October. In high school he played guitar, sang and wrote songs in a local band. Whether on bass with Vampire Weekend or behind the decks as Baio, he brings infectious rhythm and a dance-floor sensibility to the stage.
