Book Sugar Ray
Sugar Ray is an American rock band from Newport Beach, California, fronted by singer Mark McGrath alongside guitarist Rodney Sheppard, with drummer Dean Butterworth and bassist Kristian Attard completing the current lineup. Formed in 1986 and renamed after boxer Sugar Ray Leonard when they signed with Atlantic Records, the group started out as a hard-hitting funk metal outfit on Lemonade and Brownies (1995). Everything changed in 1997, when "Fly," a breezy reggae-flavored track with Super Cat, became a radio smash and lifted the album Floored. The band silenced one-hit-wonder talk with 14:59 (1999), whose "Every Morning" climbed to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 while "Someday" reached No. 7, then added "When It's Over" from the self-titled Sugar Ray (2001). Later releases include In the Pursuit of Leisure (2003), Music for Cougars (2009) and Little Yachty (2019), which arrived after a new deal with BMG. Sugar Ray played the Vans Warped Tour in 1997, made cameos in the films Fathers' Day and Scooby-Doo, and launched its own Under the Sun tour in 2013. Today the band delivers a sunny, singalong set built on a catalog of summer radio favorites.
