The Neighbourhood, sometimes shortened to The NBHD, is an alternative rock band that came out of Newbury Park, California, in 2011. Jesse Rutherford sings lead, Brandon Fried plays drums, Mikey Margott plays bass, and the guitar work comes from Zach Abels and Jeremy Fredman. After putting out two EPs, I'm Sorry... and Thank You, the band signed with Columbia Records and delivered the debut studio album I Love You. in 2013. Its third single, "Sweater Weather," became their signature song and a fixture of playlists far beyond rock. Further albums followed with Wiped Out! in 2015, Hard to Imagine the Neighbourhood Ever Changing in 2018, Chip Chrome & The Mono-Tones in 2020 and (((((ultraSOUND))))) in 2025, five studio records in all. Moody, cinematic and heavily stylish, The Neighbourhood blend indie rock with hip-hop textures and a dark romantic mood that has built a devoted younger fan base.
