Book Bastille
Bastille is the London indie pop band led by singer and songwriter Dan Smith, a Grammy nominee for Best New Artist in 2015 and winner of the British Breakthrough Act prize at the 2014 Brit Awards. What began as Smith's solo project grew into a four-piece completed by Kyle Simmons on keys, Will Farquarson on bass and guitar, and Chris "Woody" Wood on drums. Their 2010 debut single, "Flaws," was pressed in a run of just 300 copies, and radio support and online buzz led to a deal with Virgin Records. The debut album Bad Blood (2013) carried the anthem "Pompeii," which went top five on the US Billboard Hot 100. Their 2018 collaboration with Marshmello, "Happier," climbed to number two on the Hot 100. Further albums include Wild World (2016), Doom Days (2019) and Give Me the Future (2022), followed in 2024 by "&," a Smith solo project released under the Bastille name. Early on the band played major festivals including Glastonbury and Reading and Leeds, and they later toured on the Wild Wild World and From All Sides tours. Their songs have appeared in television series, films, video games and advertisements.
