Book The Breeders
The Breeders are the Dayton, Ohio alternative rock band behind "Cannonball," the 1993 hit that became one of the signature songs of the decade's alternative boom. Kim Deal of the Pixies started the group in 1989 with Tanya Donelly of Throwing Muses as a side project, and the band's current lineup reunites the Last Splash era: Kim Deal on guitar and vocals, her twin sister Kelley Deal on lead guitar, Josephine Wiggs on bass and Jim Macpherson on drums. Their debut album, Pod (1990), recorded with Steve Albini, won a devoted following among indie rock fans, and Kurt Cobain named it among his favorite albums. After the Safari EP, the band released Last Splash, which made them a fixture on alternative radio and MTV and took them onto the 1994 Lollapalooza tour. Title TK (2002) and Mountain Battles (2008) followed, and the classic lineup returned in 2013 to celebrate Last Splash's anniversary, then released All Nerve in 2018. More recently the band opened shows for Olivia Rodrigo on the Guts World Tour, introducing their music to a new generation. Their sets pair Kim Deal's cool, conversational vocals with fuzzed-out guitars and sharp, catchy hooks.
