Brand New is the Long Island rock band that grew from a scrappy pop-punk outfit into a defining name in emo and indie rock. Formed in 2000, the group features Jesse Lacey on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Vincent Accardi on lead guitar, Garrett Tierney on bass and Brian Lane on drums. Their debut, Your Favorite Weapon (2001), came out on Triple Crown Records and set the tone with fast, hooky songs. Deja Entendu (2003) pushed the sound toward indie rock, carried by "The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows" and "Sic Transit Gloria... Glory Fades." The band moved to Interscope for The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me (2006), a record later praised as a landmark of the genre, with "Jesus Christ" reaching radio. Daisy (2009) leaned into post-hardcore and noise rock and opened at number six on the Billboard 200, and Science Fiction (2017) followed after a long gap between releases.
