Book Jimmy Eat World

Jimmy Eat World are the Mesa, Arizona, rock band behind "The Middle," the 2002 anthem that topped Billboard's Alternative Songs chart and reached the top five of the Hot 100. Formed in 1993, the band is Jim Adkins on lead vocals and guitar, Tom Linton on guitar and vocals, Rick Burch on bass and Zach Lind on drums, a lineup that has recorded every album since their first. Adkins and Lind had been friends since preschool, and the group began with a punk sound before signing with Capitol Records for Static Prevails (1996) and Clarity (1999), the latter growing into a cult favorite. Their breakthrough, Bleed American (2001), placed four singles in the Alternative Songs top 20, including "The Middle" and "Sweetness." Futures (2004) delivered another Alternative Songs number one, "Pain," and Chase This Light (2007) became their highest-charting album, peaking at number five on the Billboard 200. Invented (2010), Damage (2013), Integrity Blues (2016) and Surviving (2019) followed, with all ten studio albums carrying their blend of emo, power pop and alternative rock. Known for heartfelt lyrics and soaring guitar hooks, Jimmy Eat World remain a major festival draw three decades into their career.
