Book Sylvan Esso
Sylvan Esso is an electropop duo from Durham, North Carolina, formed in 2013 by singer Amelia Meath and producer Nick Sanborn, pairing intimate, folk-trained vocals with inventive, bass-heavy electronic production. Meath, also of the vocal trio Mountain Man, met Sanborn, then of the band Megafaun, at a Milwaukee club and asked him to remix her song "Play It Right", which became the spark for the group. After she returned from a long stint touring with Feist, the two settled in Durham and recorded their first album in Sanborn's bedroom. They introduced themselves with the single "Hey Mami" and released their self-titled debut, Sylvan Esso (2014), which reached the Billboard 200. What Now (2017) earned a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album and was supported by a 2017 US tour. They followed with Free Love (2020), No Rules Sandy (2022) on their own Psychic Hotline label, and Ow ∞ (2026). In all, they have received two Grammy nominations. Live, Sylvan Esso delivers a joyful, dance-driven show that pairs Meath's magnetic stage presence with Sanborn's propulsive beats.
