Book The Hives
Formed in Fagersta, Sweden, in 1993, The Hives are a garage rock band that became one of the leading lights of the early-2000s garage rock revival. Fronted by Howlin' Pelle Almqvist alongside guitarists Nicholaus Arson and Vigilante Carlstroem and drummer Chris Dangerous, the band built a following at home before breaking out worldwide with Veni Vidi Vicious (2000) and its signature single "Hate to Say I Told You So", which later landed on the Spider-Man soundtrack. The compilation Your New Favourite Band (2001) spread the word further, and the studio catalog grew with Tyrannosaurus Hives (2004), The Black and White Album (2007), Lex Hives (2012), The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons (2023) and The Hives Forever Forever the Hives (2025), following their 1997 debut Barely Legal. They won Sweden's Musikexportpriset in 2002 and were shortlisted for the Shortlist Music Prize that year. Famous for matching black-and-white outfits and wildly theatrical frontman banter, The Hives have a reputation as a ferocious live rock act, delivering short, sharp, high-energy sets.
