Book Matisyahu
Matisyahu is the singer, rapper and beatboxer whose 2005 single "King Without a Crown" became a Billboard Hot 100 top-40 hit, and he earned a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album with Youth. Born Matthew Paul Miller, he performed for a year-plus as MC Truth in Bend, Oregon, before signing with JDub Records and releasing his debut album, Shake Off the Dust... Arise, in 2004. His rise was fueled by live shows: at Bonnaroo in 2005, Phish's Trey Anastasio invited him to guest during his set, and in 2006 he opened several Dave Matthews Band concerts. His breakthrough release, Live at Stubb's, recorded in Austin, Texas, featured the live version of "King Without a Crown" and was later picked up by Sony and Epic. Youth (2006) was followed by No Place to Be, Light, which included "One Day," Spark Seeker (2012), Akeda (2014), Undercurrent (2017), a self-titled album (2022) and Ancient Child (2025). His music, which sets faith-based lyrics to reggae, rock and hip-hop, has been shaped by producers including Bill Laswell and Sly & Robbie, and he has released five live albums.
