Book Billy Bragg
Billy Bragg is an English singer, songwriter, author and political activist whose music fuses folk, punk and protest song with lyrics about politics and love. He began in 1977 with the punk and pub rock band Riff Raff, and after that group split he took to the stage alone with an electric guitar, billed as Spy vs Spy. His records include Life's a Riot With Spy vs Spy (1983), Brewing Up With Billy Bragg (1984), Talking With the Taxman About Poetry (1986), Workers Playtime (1988), Don't Try This at Home (1991), William Bloke (1996), the Mermaid Avenue series from 1998 to 2012, Tooth & Nail (2013), Shine a Light: Field Recordings From the Great American Railroad (2016) and The Million Things That Never Happened (2021). He has two Grammy nominations. Bragg founded Jail Guitar Doors in both the United Kingdom and the United States, and he received the Spirit of Americana Free Speech Award in 2016. His solo shows pair a single electric guitar with sharp humor and conviction.
