Book Modeselektor

Modeselektor are a Berlin electronic duo made up of Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary, two producers who came of age in the free-wheeling club scene that followed the fall of the Wall. They met in 1992, when Szary was playing live acid house at underground parties as Fundamental Knowledge, and took their name from a setting on the Roland Space Echo. After landing their first remix deal in 1999 and finding a home on Ellen Allien's BPitch Control label, they released their debut album Hello Mom! in 2005, followed by Happy Birthday! (2007), which featured guest vocals from Thom Yorke, Maxïmo Park, TTC and Puppetmastaz. Later records include Monkeytown (2011), Who Else (2019), EXTLP and Extended Chords (both 2021) and Classics Vol. 1 (2026). With Apparat they also form the celebrated trio Moderat, which has released four full-length albums. The duo have built sound installations for the Centre Pompidou and work closely with the visual collective Pfadfinderei. Their live shows fuse bass-heavy techno, IDM, hip-hop and rave energy with striking visuals, turning festival stages and clubs into loud, joyful parties.
