Lulu is a Scottish singer, songwriter and actress, also a television host, with a career that began in the 1960s. She launched in 1964 with a debut single covering the Isley Brothers' "Shout." In 1967 she reached the world stage after appearing in the film To Sir, with Love and singing its theme, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for five straight weeks and became the biggest-selling single of the year in America. In 1969 her song "Boom Bang-a-Bang" shared victory at the Eurovision Song Contest, and from 1968 to 1973 she hosted her own television shows. In 1974 she was asked to sing the theme for the Bond picture The Man with the Golden Gun. Her seventeen studio albums include Something to Shout About, Lulu!, Melody Fair, Independence and Together, and she has been named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire.
