Book Lorna Luft

Lorna Luft is a singer and actress who grew up at the heart of one of show business's most legendary families as the child of Sidney Luft and Judy Garland, with Liza Minnelli as her half-sister. She made her debut at 11, singing "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" on the 1963 holiday episode of The Judy Garland Show, and her mother later sang "Lorna," a song Johnny Mercer and Mort Lindsey wrote especially for her. At 14 she shared the bill with Garland at New York's Palace Theatre in 1967, an engagement released as Judy Garland at Home at the Palace. Luft reached Broadway in 1971 in Promises, Promises, headlined Carnegie Hall in 1981, starred in the national tour of They're Playing Our Song, played Paulette Rebchuck in Grease 2 (1982) and appeared off-Broadway as Peppermint Patty in Snoopy! The Musical. She told her family story in the book Me and My Shadows: A Family Memoir (1998) and honored her mother's songbook on Songs My Mother Taught Me (2007). On stage she delivers classic Great American Songbook glamour with a rare personal connection.
