Book Lloyd Blankfein
Lloyd Blankfein is an American investment banker and a central figure in modern Wall Street history. A New York City native, he studied at Harvard for both his undergraduate degree and law school, practiced law briefly, and in 1982 joined J. Aron & Co., the commodities trading house owned by Goldman Sachs, as a precious metals salesman. He rose to run Goldman's currency and commodities businesses from 1994 to 1997, was the firm's president and COO under Henry Paulson between 2004 and 2006, and then led the firm as chairman and chief executive from 2006 through 2018. Taking the top job just before the 2008 financial crisis, he steered Goldman through a deeply turbulent stretch for the banking industry and emerged as a widely watched public figure. Since 2019 he has held the title of senior chairman. Time magazine twice listed him among the world's most influential people, and he was named Financial Times Person of the Year in 2009. As a speaker he offers an insider's view of global markets, crisis leadership and how a major financial institution is run.
