Book Jon Anderson
Jon Anderson, born John Roy Anderson in 1944, is a singer, songwriter and musician from England who co-founded the progressive rock band Yes with bassist Chris Squire in 1968 and became its lead vocalist. Yes helped define progressive rock in the 1970s, with albums such as The Yes Album and Fragile in 1971 and Close to the Edge in 1972 that showcase Anderson's gift for building long, imaginative songs around his high, pure voice. He has also recorded extensively on his own, with twenty-three studio albums that include Olias of Sunhillow in 1976, Song of Seven in 1980, Animation in 1982, 3 Ships in 1985, In the City of Angels in 1988, Deseo, Angels Embrace in 1995, Toltec in 1996, The Promise Ring and Earthmotherearth in 1997. His spiritual, optimistic lyrics and bright tenor remain unmistakable in live performances of classic rock.
