Book Godsmack
Godsmack is a hard rock band from Lawrence, Massachusetts, with three consecutive number-one albums on the Billboard 200, Faceless (2003), IV (2006) and The Oracle (2010), plus three Grammy nominations. Singer and rhythm guitarist Sully Erna, who had spent years as a drummer, started the band in 1995 with bassist Robbie Merrill, and Boston club favorites "Keep Away" and "Whatever" quickly made them a regional draw. Their self-titled major-label debut added "Voodoo" and "Bad Religion" and took them to Ozzfest and Woodstock '99 and onto an European tour supporting Black Sabbath. The instrumental "Vampires" from Awake (2000) was nominated for a Grammy in the rock instrumental category. In 2002 they wrote "I Stand Alone" for The Scorpion King soundtrack, and it held the top spot on active rock radio for fourteen weeks. The band has amassed 25 top-ten rock radio hits, twelve of which reached number one. When they released 1000hp in 2014, Boston mayor Marty Walsh proclaimed August 6 Godsmack Day in the city. Subsequent albums When Legends Rise (2018) and Lighting Up the Sky (2023) continued the run, with Erna, Merrill and guitarist Sam Koltun in the current lineup.
