Book Shinedown
Shinedown has earned more number-one singles than any other act in the history of Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart, with 24, and every single the band has released has reached that chart's top five. In 2021, Billboard named Shinedown the top act on its Greatest of All Time Mainstream Rock Artists ranking for the chart's 40th anniversary. Singer Brent Smith formed the group in Jacksonville, Florida, in 2001 while under a development deal with Atlantic Records, and the lineup settled with Smith and drummer Barry Kerch alongside guitarist Zach Myers and bassist Eric Bass. The debut album Leave a Whisper produced "Fly from the Inside," "45" and a cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple Man." Us and Them followed in 2005, and The Sound of Madness (2008) delivered six singles, including "Devour" and "Second Chance," which reached number seven on the Billboard Hot 100. Amaryllis, Threat to Survival with "Cut the Cord," Attention Attention and Planet Zero extended the streak, and the band's eighth album, Eight, was released in May 2026. Shinedown has toured with Seether, Halestorm and Nothing More.
