Book Foreigner
Foreigner were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2024 for a string of arena-rock anthems that includes "Feels Like the First Time," "Cold as Ice," "Hot Blooded," "Double Vision," "Urgent," "Waiting for a Girl Like You," "Juke Box Hero" and "I Want to Know What Love Is." English guitarist and songwriter Mick Jones formed the band in New York City in 1976 with singer Lou Gramm, drummer Dennis Elliott, keyboardist Al Greenwood, bassist Ed Gagliardi and former King Crimson multi-instrumentalist Ian McDonald; the name nodded to its split of British and American members. Their 1977 debut produced two top-ten singles and began a run of six straight top-ten albums in the US, and the group was nominated for the Grammy for Best New Artist. Double Vision and Head Games extended the streak, and 4 (1981) held the top spot on the Billboard 200 for ten weeks, with Thomas Dolby adding synthesizers to "Urgent." Agent Provocateur (1984) delivered "I Want to Know What Love Is," which reached number one in the US, Canada and Australia. Led by Jones, Foreigner have kept touring into the 2020s, including the Bad Reputation Tour in 2022.
