Book David Byrne
David Byrne holds an Academy Award, a Grammy, a Golden Globe and a Special Tony Award, and he entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as the founding frontman, guitarist and principal songwriter of Talking Heads. Born in Dumbarton, Scotland, and raised in the United States, he formed the band in New York in 1975 with Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth, signed to Sire in 1976 and made eight studio albums before the group split in 1991. He staged and choreographed the landmark concert film Stop Making Sense, which A24 returned to theaters in 2023. His Oscar came for the score of Bernardo Bertolucci's The Last Emperor, shared with Ryuichi Sakamoto and Cong Su, and he earned a second Oscar nomination in 2023 for a song from Everything Everywhere All at Once. His Broadway show American Utopia, built on his 2018 album, opened at the Hudson Theatre in 2019, and Here Lies Love, his disco musical with Fatboy Slim about Imelda Marcos, brought a 2024 Tony nomination for best score. He founded the label Luaka Bop, wrote How Music Works and Bicycle Diaries, and released Who Is the Sky? in 2025.
