Book Phish
Phish is the Vermont rock band whose improvised, never-the-same-twice concerts built a fiercely loyal audience, largely by word of mouth and the trading of live recordings. Formed at the University of Vermont in Burlington in 1983, the band has kept the same four members since 1986: Trey Anastasio on guitar, Mike Gordon on bass, Page McConnell on keys and Jon Fishman on drums, with Anastasio and lyricist Tom Marshall writing most of the songs. Their music draws on funk, progressive rock, psychedelia, bluegrass, jazz and pop. Studio albums run from Junta and Lawn Boy through A Picture of Nectar, Rift, Hoist, Billy Breathes, The Story of the Ghost and Farmhouse to Joy, Fuego, Big Boat, Sigma Oasis and Evolve (2024). After hiatuses in the 2000s, they reunited in 2009 and have performed regularly since. Highlights include the 2017 Baker's Dozen, thirteen consecutive sold-out nights at Madison Square Garden without repeating a song, a long tradition of New Year's Eve shows at the Garden, and a 2024 run at Sphere in Las Vegas. They headlined Bonnaroo in 2012, and Ben & Jerry's named its Phish Food flavor after them.
