Book Boy George
Boy George is the voice of Culture Club, the group behind "Karma Chameleon," "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me," "Time (Clock of the Heart)" and "Church of the Poison Mind," and his Grammy shelf holds a win from four nominations. Raised in Eltham, south-east London, he emerged from the New Romantic scene with an androgynous style inspired by Marc Bolan and David Bowie, formed Culture Club with Roy Hay, Mikey Craig and Jon Moss, and broke out with Kissing to Be Clever (1982) and Colour by Numbers (1983). He launched a solo career in 1987, scoring with "Everything I Own" and the title song from The Crying Game, led the band Jesus Loves You from 1989 to 1992 and became a club DJ in the mid-1990s, earning a dance-recording Grammy nod for "When Will You Learn." On stage he wrote the music for Taboo, a musical about the New Romantic era that ran in London's West End and earned him Tony, Drama Desk and Olivier nominations. He has written two memoirs, Take It Like a Man and Straight, continues to tour with a re-formed Culture Club and released the solo album SE18 in 2025.
