Book Editors
Editors are the Birmingham rock band whose 2005 debut album, The Back Room, earned a Mercury Prize nomination and whose follow-up, An End Has a Start, brought a Brit Awards nomination for Best British Group. Formed in 2002, the group went through the names Pilot, The Pride and Snowfield before settling on Editors. Today it features singer and guitarist Tom Smith, bassist Russell Leetch, drummer Ed Lay, lead guitarist Justin Lockey and multi-instrumentalist Elliott Williams, with longtime touring member Nicholas Willes. The Back Room, launched with the single "Bullets," contained "Munich" and "Blood," and An End Has a Start (2007) produced "Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors." The synth-heavy In This Light and on This Evening (2009), with "Papillon," was followed by The Weight of Your Love (2013), the self-produced In Dream (2015) and Violence (2018). EBM (2022) welcomed producer Benjamin John Power of Blanck Mass as a full member, and Surface, Echo & Sound arrived in 2026. Combining post-punk guitars, electronic textures and Smith's deep baritone, Editors have built a large following across Europe and headlined major festival stages. Their dark, dramatic live sets build to anthemic choruses.
