Book Becky Stark
Becky Stark is a Los Angeles singer, songwriter and entertainer best known as the voice of the band Lavender Diamond. Her luminous soprano and theatrical warmth have made her a distinctive figure in indie folk, and in November 2007 she was photographed by Annie Leibovitz for a Vanity Fair portfolio of folk music heroes. Lavender Diamond's album Imagine Our Love came out in 2007 on Matador and Rough Trade. Stark also sings in The Living Sisters, a folk trio she shares with Inara George and Eleni Mandell. She wrote the "Songs of the Believers" for the 2008 film City of Ember, directed by Gil Kenan, and appears in it as the Songmaster. On record she voiced the character Margaret on the Decemberists' 2009 concept album The Hazards of Love, singing on tracks such as "Isn't It a Lovely Night?" and "The Abduction of Margaret." She also wrote, directed and starred in the web series Califunya! and played the 2009 South by Southwest festival with her band. On stage she brings radiant vocals, gentle humor and a sense of wonder.
