Book Ani DiFranco

Ani DiFranco has earned nine Grammy nominations and won Best Recording Package for Evolve, and she has released every one of her albums on Righteous Babe Records, the label she started at 19 in 1989. The Buffalo-born singer-songwriter and guitarist blends folk rock and alternative rock with punk, funk, hip-hop and jazz, delivered with a percussive, highly personal guitar style. After her self-titled 1990 debut she built a fiercely loyal audience through relentless touring and albums such as Not a Pretty Girl, Dilate, Little Plastic Castle, Up Up Up Up Up Up and Revelling / Reckoning. Her catalog now exceeds 20 studio albums, recently adding Binary, Revolutionary Love and Unprecedented Sh!t (2024). She counts Pete Seeger among her mentors, and through the Righteous Babe Foundation she supports grassroots cultural and political causes. Her memoir, No Walls and the Recurring Dream (2019), became a New York Times bestseller, and in February 2024 she made her Broadway debut as Persephone in Hadestown, a role she first sang on Anaïs Mitchell's original concept album. As a model of artist independence and a dynamic performer, DiFranco remains a touchstone for generations of songwriters.
