Book The Misshapes
The Misshapes are a New York City DJ duo made up of Leigh Lezark and Geordon Nicol, best known for the influential downtown party that defined a generation of New York nightlife. Lezark and Nicol met Greg Krelenstein in college, and the three launched The Misshapes in 2003, taking their name from the Pulp song "Mis-Shapes." Their weekly Misshapes Dance Party began in Lezark's apartment on Eleventh Street before moving to the bar Luke & Leroy's. As word spread, aided by coverage on Gawker, the crowds outgrew the room, and in 2005, after an appearance by Madonna and Stuart Price, the event relocated to the SoHo club Don Hill's. There it became a meeting point for downtown creatives, fashion figures and celebrities, promoted through handmade flyers and an accompanying website that posted weekly party photos and portraits shot against a white wall. The party hosted guest DJs and live acts including Arcade Fire, Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand, Interpol, David Byrne, Kelis and Jarvis Cocker. Today the duo brings a fashion-forward, indie-meets-dance DJ sound and authentic New York cool to every booth.
