Book The Bangles

The Bangles, an all-female American pop rock band, came together in Los Angeles in 1981 and went on to define the sound of that decade. Susanna Hoffs teamed with the Peterson sisters, Vicki and Debbi, to start the band within the Paisley Underground movement, a scene steeped in 1960s rock and psychedelia, and bassist Michael Steele later completed the classic lineup. Their debut, All Over the Place (1984), won critical praise and a loyal fan base, and Different Light delivered the commercial breakthrough. The hits that followed are pop staples: "Manic Monday" (1986), written by Prince; the global smash "Walk Like an Egyptian" (1986); "If She Knew What She Wants" (1986); their take on Simon & Garfunkel's "Hazy Shade of Winter" (1987) from the film Less Than Zero; "In Your Room" (1988); and the signature ballad "Eternal Flame" (1989) from Everything (1988). The Bangles won the Brit Award for International Group in 1987. After splitting in 1989 they reunited in the late 1990s, releasing Doll Revolution (2003) and Sweetheart of the Sun (2011), and founding bassist Annette Zilinskas rejoined in 2018. Their shows serve up jangly guitars, rich harmonies and instantly familiar hits.
