Book Queensryche
Queensrÿche is an American progressive metal band formed in 1980 in Bellevue, Washington, playing first as Cross+Fire and then as the Mob before adopting its permanent name in 1982. The founding four, guitarists Michael Wilton and Chris DeGarmo plus Eddie Jackson on bass and Scott Rockenfield on drums, added vocalist Geoff Tate that year. A self-released EP in 1982 built a following beyond their home state and led to a deal with EMI Records. Through the 1980s the band rose with The Warning (1984), Rage for Order (1986) and Operation: Mindcrime (1988), a concept record regarded among the finest in heavy metal, then reached a wider audience with Empire (1990) and its signature hit "Silent Lucidity" (1990). Counted with Dream Theater and Fates Warning as one of progressive metal's "Big Three," Queensrÿche has moved upward of 20 million albums around the world, earned Grammy Award nominations, and landed at number 28 on Loudwire's 2016 ranking of the greatest metal bands. With 16 studio albums, an EP and several concert films to their name, they continue to record and tour, bringing soaring vocals, intricate twin-guitar work and a catalog of metal anthems to the stage.
