Book Nazareth
Formed in Dunfermline, Scotland, in December 1968, Nazareth are a hard rock band, named after the town mentioned in the opening line of the Band's "The Weight." The original four were singer Dan McCafferty, guitar player Manny Charlton, bass player Pete Agnew and drummer Darrell Sweet, and they moved to London and released their self-titled debut, Nazareth, in 1971. Exercises (1972) earned them a tour supporting Deep Purple, and Roger Glover produced Razamanaz (1973), home of "Broken Down Angel" and "Bad Bad Boy." Loud ’n’ Proud (1973) added their muscular take on Joni Mitchell's "This Flight Tonight," and Rampant followed in 1974. Hair of the Dog (1975) broke them worldwide, including in the United States, with its swaggering title track and their power-ballad cover of "Love Hurts." The band kept a steady pace through Expect No Mercy (1977), No Mean City (1978) and Malice in Wonderland (1980), and later records such as The Newz (2008), Big Dogz (2011), Rock ’n’ Roll Telephone (2014), Tattooed on My Brain (2018) and Surviving the Law (2022) make twenty-six studio albums. Five decades on, Nazareth still tour the globe with gritty riffs and big choruses.
