Book Marcus Miller
Marcus Miller, born in 1959, is a bassist, songwriter and record producer from New York. He has worked with the trumpeter Miles Davis, pianist Herbie Hancock, vocalist Luther Vandross, plus the saxophonists David Sanborn and Wayne Shorter, and he wrote and produced much of Davis's album Tutu. As a bandleader he has made eleven studio albums, including Suddenly in 1983, Marcus Miller in 1984, The Sun Don't Lie in 1993, Tales in 1995, m² in 2001, Silver Rain in 2005, Free in 2007, Marcus in 2008, Renaissance in 2012, Afrodeezia in 2015 and Laid Black in 2018. He holds two Grammy wins, an Icon Award from 2013 and was named an Officer of the Order of Cultural Merit in 2018. Miller's slap bass is explosive and melodic, and his concerts blend jazz, funk and R&B with generous improvisation.
