Book Keith Jarrett
Keith Jarrett is an American pianist and composer and a towering improviser in jazz history. He made his recording debut with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers on the live album Buttercorn Lady (1966), then joined the Charles Lloyd Quartet, whose Forest Flower became a major jazz hit of the mid-1960s, before playing with Miles Davis. From the early 1970s he led his own groups and built a towering solo career spanning jazz, fusion and classical music, drawing on gospel, blues and folk traditions. His 1975 recording The Köln Concert outsold every other piano album in history. Landmark studio work includes Facing You (1972), Belonging (1974), The Survivors’ Suite (1977) and My Song (1978), and he has also recorded celebrated classical interpretations such as the Goldberg Variations (1989). Jarrett is a NEA Jazz Master and a Steinway artist, received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1972, and in 2003 became the first Polar Music Prize laureate honored in both contemporary and classical music. He also received the Léonie Sonning Music Prize in 2004 and was inducted into the DownBeat Jazz Hall of Fame in 2008.
