Book Stanley Clarke
Stanley Clarke, born in 1951, is a bassist and composer from Philadelphia and a founding member of Return to Forever, a pioneering jazz fusion band. He lifted the bass guitar from a supporting instrument to a lead voice, and he became the earliest fusion bassist to headline his own tours and fill concert halls worldwide. His twenty-seven studio albums include Children of Forever in 1973, Stanley Clarke in 1974, Journey to Love in 1975, School Days in 1976, Modern Man in 1978, I Wanna Play for You in 1979, Rocks, Pebbles and Sand in 1980 and The Clarke / Duke Project in 1981 with keyboardist George Duke. He holds the NEA Jazz Masters honor. Clarke plays both electric and upright bass with astonishing speed, power and soul, and his concerts are thrilling jazz, funk and rock fusion.
