MAKJ, born Mackenzie Johnson in San Luis Obispo, California, is an American DJ and producer who has been a force in electronic dance music since 2012. As a teenager living in China he was chasing a career as a race car driver before he bought a pair of Technics 1200 turntables at fifteen, and after returning to the United States he studied scratching with DJ AM. MAKJ rose through solo releases and collaborations with Hardwell, Steve Aoki, Timmy Trumpet and Deorro, and in late 2013 he crossed the country on his first major US tour with Bingo Players and Bassjackers. Festival stages followed fast, including Electric Zoo, EDC, Coachella, Voodoo Experience and a main stage slot at TomorrowWorld. Billboard put him on its Top 10 Artists to Watch list for Ultra Music Festival in 2014, and he landed on DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs list. He also hosts Revolution Radio on the Evolution channel, spotlighting new dance talent. Expect high-energy, scratch-heavy sets built for big rooms.
