Book Failure
Failure are a Los Angeles alternative rock band celebrated for a dense, atmospheric sound that has made them a favorite of fellow musicians. Led by Ken Andrews and Greg Edwards, the group signed with Slash Records in 1992 and cut their debut album Comfort with producer Steve Albini in Minnesota that summer, touring with Tool soon after. Wanting a fuller, more layered sound, Andrews and Edwards produced the follow-up themselves, and Magnified (1994), with drummer Kellii Scott and the single "Undone," drew praise from critics and peers alike. On another tour with Tool, guitarist Adam Jones joined them nightly for "Macaque." Their third album, Fantastic Planet (1996), became their signature work, a sprawling, cinematic record that continues to win new listeners. Failure split in 1997 and reunited in 2014, and the second chapter has been remarkably productive: The Heart Is a Monster (2015), In the Future Your Body Will Be the Furthest Thing From Your Mind (2018), Wild Type Droid (2021) and Location Lost (2026). On stage they deliver heavy, hypnotic sets that mix spacey textures with crushing guitars, drawing on seven studio albums and five EPs.
