Book Drowning Pool
Drowning Pool are the Dallas rock band behind "Bodies," the thunderous 2001 single whose "let the bodies hit the floor" chorus became a staple of sports arenas, films and wrestling broadcasts. C.J. Pierce on guitar and Mike Luce on drums started the group in 1996 with bassist Stevie Benton, naming it after the 1975 Paul Newman film The Drowning Pool, and the three have anchored the band ever since. Their debut album, Sinner (2001), featured "Bodies" and "Tear Away" with original singer Dave Williams, who died in August 2002 from heart disease. Jason Jones fronted the band on Desensitized (2004), then Ryan McCombs of SOiL sang on Full Circle (2007) and the self-titled Drowning Pool (2010), the first time the band kept a vocalist for a second album. Jasen Moreno followed and became their longest-serving singer, recording Resilience (2013), Hellelujah (2016) and Strike a Nerve (2022). In 2023 McCombs returned as lead vocalist. Through a series of changes the band has kept its heavy, groove-driven sound, combining crushing riffs with big, shout-along hooks. Their high-octane sets, built around "Bodies," are a fixture of hard rock and metal festival lineups across North America.
