Book David Miliband
David Miliband is a British former politician and humanitarian leader who has led the International Rescue Committee as its president since 2013, heading one of the world's major humanitarian aid organizations. He began at the Institute for Public Policy Research, and at 29 became Tony Blair's head of policy while Labour was in opposition, helping write the 1997 manifesto that returned the party to government. He then ran the Prime Minister's Policy Unit until 2001, when he won the parliamentary seat of South Shields, which he held until 2013. After junior ministerial roles in education and at the Cabinet Office, he entered the cabinet in 2006 as Environment Secretary, putting climate change at the center of policy. In 2007 he was appointed Foreign Secretary at 41, the youngest to hold the job in three decades, serving until 2010. He and his brother Ed became the first pair of brothers serving side by side in cabinet since 1938. Miliband brings a global, practical perspective to talks on refugees, conflict, foreign policy, climate and leadership in times of crisis.
