Book Scott Walker

Scott Walker is an American politician and former governor who led Wisconsin as its 45th governor from 2011 to 2019. A Colorado Springs native who grew up in Iowa and Wisconsin, he is an Eagle Scout who worked at IBM before building a long career in public office. Voters first sent him to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 1992 to represent a western Milwaukee County district. A decade later he won a special election to become Milwaukee County executive, then held that post through full terms won in 2004 and 2008. Elected governor in 2010, Walker drew national attention early in his first term with a budget measure that reshaped collective bargaining for public employees, and in 2012 he became the first sitting American governor to survive a recall vote. He was returned to office in 2014, and in 2015 he entered the race for the Republican presidential nomination. His administration created the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. He remains the most recent Republican to hold Wisconsin's governorship. Walker speaks from firsthand experience on state government, budgets, leadership under pressure and conservative policy.
