Book Sudan Archives

Sudan Archives is the Los Angeles violinist, singer, songwriter and producer Brittney Parks, whose 2023 Libera Awards haul included Best R&B Record and the breakthrough honor. Raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, she learned violin by ear in early childhood, and she built her sound by looping violin through electronics, drawing on R&B, hip-hop and the fiddle traditions of West and North Africa. Signed to the independent label Stones Throw Records, she released a self-titled debut EP in 2017, followed by the Sink EP in 2018, which featured the single "Nont for Sale." Her debut studio album, Athena (2019), drew wide critical acclaim from outlets including The Guardian, The Quietus and Variety. In March 2022 she returned with "Home Maker," her first new song in three years, which led into her second album, Natural Brown Prom Queen, released later that year to further praise and the two Libera Awards. Her third album, The BPM (2025), pushed further into dance and electronic music. Her music combines violin, layered vocals and her own beat production.
