Book Sinkane

Sinkane is the project of Ahmed Gallab, a Sudanese-American musician, singer and bandleader who mixes funk, krautrock, prog, electronica and free jazz with Sudanese pop into joyful, groove-heavy music. Born in London, raised partly in Sudan and later in Utah and Ohio, he worked as a session and touring musician with Caribou, of Montreal, Yeasayer, Born Ruffians and Eleanor Friedberger before stepping out on his own. His albums include Color Voice (2008), Sinkane (2009), Mars (2012), Mean Love (2014), Life & Livin' It (2017) on City Slang, Dépaysé (2019) and We Belong (2024). Gallab also serves as vocalist and music director of the Atomic Bomb! Band, an all-star ensemble devoted to the music of Nigerian funk pioneer William Onyeabor, whose ranks have included David Byrne, Damon Albarn, Dev Hynes, Money Mark and Pharoah Sanders. He composed the music for the stage musical The Enormous Crocodile, based on Roald Dahl's book, which opened at Leeds Playhouse in 2023 and played London's Regent's Park Open Air Theatre in 2024. Sinkane has performed on Conan and on David Letterman's show, and his live sets deliver infectious rhythms, soulful vocals and a global dance-floor spirit.
