Book Stone Temple Pilots
Stone Temple Pilots, or STP, is a rock band that came together in San Diego, California, in 1989, built around singer Scott Weiland, the DeLeo brothers, Dean on guitar and Robert on bass, and Eric Kretz on drums. Signed to Atlantic Records, they released Core in 1992, a massive debut that helped push grunge into the mainstream, and their single "Plush" won the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance With Vocal, one of four career nominations. They followed with Purple (1994), Tiny Music... Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop (1996), No. 4 (1999) and Shangri-La Dee Da (2001). After a split in 2003, members worked in Velvet Revolver and Army of Anyone, then regrouped for a 2008 reunion tour and a self-titled album in 2010. Chester Bennington sang on the 2013 EP High Rise, and Jeff Gutt became lead singer in 2017, fronting a second self-titled album, Stone Temple Pilots (2018), and Perdida (2020). The DeLeo brothers and Kretz anchor a live set loaded with 1990s rock radio staples such as "Plush", delivered with heavy groove and big hooks.
