Book Michael Feinstein
Michael Feinstein is a pianist and vocalist from the United States who is celebrated as a reviver, archivist and interpreter of the Great American Songbook. In 1977 he was introduced to Ira Gershwin, who employed him to catalog the rare records and sheet music in his home, a job that lasted six years and made him a leading authority on the Gershwin catalog. He served as musical consultant on the 1983 Broadway show My One and Only and became a nationally known cabaret performer in the 1980s. His recordings include Pure Gershwin and Live at the Algonquin in 1987, Isn't It Romantic in 1988, The MGM Album in 1989, Pure Imagination in 1992 and Michael & George - Feinstein Sings Gershwin in 1998, part of a catalog of 28 studio albums. He won a Drama Desk Special Award in 1988 and has received five Grammy nominations for best traditional pop vocal album. He founded The Great American Songbook Foundation and serves as artistic director of the performing arts center in Carmel, Indiana.
