Book Katie Melua
Katie Melua was Europe's top-selling female artist within three years of her 2003 debut, Call Off the Search, which moved 1.8 million units inside five months. Born Ketevan Melua in Georgia and raised between Belfast and London, the singer and songwriter signed with composer Mike Batt's Dramatico label as a teenager. Her mezzo-soprano voice and blend of jazz, folk and pop carried her through Piece by Piece, which featured "Nine Million Bicycles," then Pictures, The House and Secret Symphony. She has released thirteen albums in all, including the reflective In Winter (2016), recorded with the Gori Women's Choir, Album No. 8 (2020), Aerial Objects (2022) and Love & Money (2023). Georgia awarded her its Order of Honour, and in 2021 she received the European Cultural Award. She has toured Europe consistently since her debut, and in 2006 she played what was then recorded as the deepest underwater concert, on a gas platform in the North Sea.
