Lone is the alias of Matt Cutler, an electronic musician and producer from Nottingham, England. He adopted the name after his earlier electronic duo, Kids in Tracksuits, came to an end, and debuted as Lone in 2007 with Everything Is Changing Colour, followed by Lemurian in 2008 and Ecstasy & Friends in 2009. Those records paired abstract hip-hop beats with lush electronic textures, and he then moved toward the dance floor with Emerald Fantasy Tracks in 2010 and Galaxy Garden in 2012. Later albums include Reality Testing in 2014, Levitate in 2016, View from the Bridge in 2018, Always Inside Your Head in 2021 and Hyperphantasia in 2026, plus archive collections such as My Laptops 2001–2006. He cites Boards of Canada and Madlib among his biggest influences and also founded the project Ancient Astronauts. Azealia Banks sampled his track "Pineapple Crush" for her single "Liquorice," and Cutler produced "Miss Amor" and "Miss Camaraderie" on her album Broke with Expensive Taste. His live and DJ sets are colorful, euphoric and rooted in rave-era nostalgia.
