Book Kenny Dope

Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez is an American DJ and record producer from Brooklyn, New York, and one of the foundational figures of classic house music. Together with Little Louie Vega he forms Masters at Work, the celebrated production duo whose name grew out of the neighborhood block parties Gonzalez began throwing in 1985 with his early partner Mike Delgado. Those parties drew the attention of producer Todd Terry, who later lent Gonzalez a drum machine that sparked his passion for building beats. In the late 1980s he spun as one of the DJs for the hip-hop group KAOS, whose 1988 album Court's in Session featured Terry's production. Working under the alias The Bucketheads, Kenny Dope scored a dance-floor smash with "The Bomb! (These Sounds Fall into My Mind)" from the 1995 album All in the Mind. His DJ mixes and albums include [Pure] Vol.2 (2004), House Brakes Vol.5 Kenny Dope (2009) and Mass Destruction (2017). Known as K-Dope to many fans, he blends deep house, funk, disco and hip-hop breaks with crate-digger precision, and his sets deliver the groove-heavy energy that made Masters at Work a legend.
