Book Gregory Alan Isakov

Gregory Alan Isakov earned a Grammy nomination for Best Folk Album with Evening Machines (2018), a career milestone for the Johannesburg-born singer-songwriter who works as a farmer as well as a musician. His family moved from South Africa to Philadelphia in 1986, and he was touring with a band by 16. Colorado became home when he enrolled at Naropa University for horticulture, playing gigs while working as a gardener, and his music career gained momentum when he toured with Kelly Joe Phelps. He self-released his first album, Rust Colored Stones, in 2003 and built his audience independently through That Sea, the Gambler (2007), This Empty Northern Hemisphere (2009) and The Weatherman (2013). Songs such as "The Stable Song," "Big Black Car," "If I Go, I'm Goin'," "Words" and "San Luis" have become favorites with folk audiences and in film and television. He also recorded an album of his songs with the Colorado Symphony. His newest album, Appaloosa Bones, arrived in August 2023. Based on his farm near Boulder, Colorado, Isakov writes quiet, atmospheric folk built on guitar, banjo and poetic imagery.
