Book Gary Numan
Gary Numan, born Gary Webb in 1958, is an English musician and a pioneer of electronic pop. He first appeared as the frontman of the new wave band Tubeway Army, whose 1979 album Replicas topped the album charts and produced the number-one single "Are 'Friends' Electric?" He then recorded under his own name, beginning with The Pleasure Principle in 1979 and Telekon in 1980. The catalog runs to twenty-two studio albums, including Dance in 1981, I, Assassin in 1982, Warriors in 1983, Berserker in 1984, The Fury in 1985, Strange Charm in 1986, Metal Rhythm in 1988, Outland in 1991 and Machine + Soul in 1992. His cold synthesizers, dystopian lyrics and robotic stage persona influenced generations of electronic and industrial artists, and his modern shows pair that heritage with dark, heavy, cinematic production.
