Book Quarterflash
Quarterflash is an American rock band from Portland, Oregon, fronted by singer and saxophonist Rindy Ross alongside her husband, guitarist Marv Ross. Formed in 1980 from the merger of two popular Oregon bands, Seafood Mama and Pilot, the group first cut "Harden My Heart" on a local label, where it became a Portland radio favorite and earned the band its own hour-long TV special. After taking the name Quarterflash, a phrase drawn from Australian slang, they signed with Geffen Records and released their self-titled debut, Quarterflash, in September 1981. The album climbed to No. 8 on Billboard's albums chart, and the re-recorded "Harden My Heart," with its unforgettable sax hook, peaked at No. 3 on the Hot 100 and was also a Top 10 hit in France. The follow-up "Find Another Fool" reached No. 16. The band went on to release Take Another Picture (1983), Back Into Blue (1985), Girl in the Wind (1991), Goodbye Uncle Buzz (2008) and Love Is a Road (2013). Quarterflash delivers polished early-'80s rock, soaring sax solos and Rindy Ross's distinctive voice.
