Book Ehud Barak
Ehud Barak shares the distinction of being the most decorated soldier in Israel's military history and a former prime minister who brings decades of security and statecraft experience to the speaking stage. Born in 1942 on kibbutz Mishmar Hasharon, he studied physics and mathematics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and later earned a master's in engineering-economic systems at Stanford. His 35-year career in the Israel Defense Forces included leadership roles in Operation Isotope in 1972, the 1973 raid in Lebanon and the 1976 Entebbe rescue, and it culminated in his service as Chief of the General Staff from 1991 to 1995. He also founded the Duvdevan Unit. In government he held the foreign affairs portfolio, led the Labor Party, and served as prime minister from 1999 to 2001, a term that included the withdrawal from Southern Lebanon and the 2000 Camp David Summit. He later returned as defense minister and deputy prime minister from 2007 to 2013. His honors include the U.S. Legion of Merit and Romania's Order of the Star. Barak speaks with rare authority on leadership, strategy, intelligence and the Middle East.
