Book Chaka Khan
Chaka Khan, the Queen of Funk, has won ten Grammy Awards from 22 nominations and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2023. She first rose to fame in the early 1970s as lead vocalist of Rufus, the funk band behind "Tell Me Something Good," "Sweet Thing," "Do You Love What You Feel" and "Ain't Nobody." Her 1978 solo debut, Chaka, delivered the R&B chart-topper "I'm Every Woman," later a smash for Whitney Houston, and she followed with "What Cha' Gonna Do for Me." Her 1984 cover of Prince's "I Feel for You," featuring a rap by Melle Mel and harmonica by Stevie Wonder, made her the first R&B artist with a crossover hit built around a rapper, and "Through the Fire" became another signature ballad. Her later Grammy wins include The Woman I Am, a version of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On," and both the album Funk This and the single "Disrespectful" with Mary J. Blige. Her collaborators span Miles Davis, Joni Mitchell, Quincy Jones, Ray Charles and Ariana Grande. She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and her newest album is Chakzilla (2026).
